Write Up: My Mom has spent the last year standing by her husband as he fought (and eventually lost) a long and exhausting battle with cancer. She has since undergone hip surgery and the financial backlash of trying to fund my both her and my father's medical needs. However, throughout all of these struggles and disappointments my Mom has continued to worry about her adult children and has never stopped making them her #1 priority. As I watch her grow older and take on the curve balls that life keeps throwing at her I am amazed by her resilience and compassion. She juggles work, physical therapy, a household and at the end of the day she still phones her children to make sure all of their needs and responsibilities are being met. Lately, she had been hobbling along with her cane, at a slow pace, but never missing a beat or a chance to make someone laugh. She has lived in the same house on Queen Anne for over 30 years; where she raised a family and buried a husband. She is my mentor, confidant and friend. She is simply the best Mom ever.
