Alright people...the time has come. We've officially closed our doors. Can I say how I'll miss our little Bouncing Wall home on Queen Anne? I'll post the sad mess of a store as we packed things up in a little posting but for now, it's all about the celebration!

So don't worry...you mad fans of Bouncing Wall. Just because we took Bouncing Wall out of the store, doesn't mean Bouncing Wall doesn't exist anymore. We're going world wide. Well, ok...on the world wide web. Good gravy! Does anyone say world wide web anymore? I think that dates me fo' sho'! (Yeah...that's my sad attempt at trying to be young and hip!)

Back to the celebration. We'll be partying our hearts out this Thursday, June 18th for our Bon Voyage Party on Capital Hill's Vermillion Gallery & Wine Bar. Come out and help us celebrate between 5pm - 9pm. If you RSVP on Evite or by email (shop@bouncingwall.com) and attend the event, the first 30 lucky folks will receive some awesome swag!

On top of it all, we'll be showing a little taste of what our Bouncing Wall Shop Social will feel like. We'll be featuring 7 awesome local designer who will be offering great deals for that night only. So come out, get your party boots on and let's say "bon voyage" to our new adventure! Oh, did I mention that Jacob London will be there to spin the music? You won't want to miss it!

Mad House for No Place Like Home Event

Can we say WOW?!! The No Place Like Home Event was a mad success. We had so many customer, supporters, friend and family show up for the event, it was crazy!

It was great to see all the designers and artists mingle and support each other. It was like having 4 extra employees! Partnering with SSIA was a great success and they were so awesome to send representatives to talk with our customers throughout the day.

Simply The Best Mom 2009

Okay everyone, Mother's Day is tomorrow! You still have a chance to submit a write up but I have to say, we have a super fab. one already!! We're going to wait until tomorrow, for the last minute entries, to announce the winner but for now read about Tara's Mothers...so genuinely sweet! Write up:
I have 2 mother's in my life and they both are great in their own ways.

First off my actual mother, Melanie, is by far my best friend. I call her weekly to just chat and share what's going on with me and vise versa. She is funny and lively and always has some interesting story for me. Her stroies are always so large and fun - she leads and exciting life! She has always been there for me, no matter where I live. She lives in FL and I see her atleast once a year but lately it's been more. When we get together we love to sightsee, shop, gossip, see movies, eat and just laugh. We don't have a stuffy relationship at all, just like to gal pals getting together to share what's new. I love her for that!

My step-mother, Linda, is also a mother to me. She and I have more of a mother daughter relationship. She loves to tell people stories of me wanting combat boots in highschool or how my hair color constantly changes. She laughs at my odd comments and strange ways. I'm the "left coast" daughter which makes me more colorful and I love that! She was there for me when I was a teen ager and helped mold me into a grownded human being. I moved around a lot and went through a lot but she accepted me for who I was and helped me growup. She threw me parties for my birthdays and even let me have friends over for breakfast that she cooked after our prom - waffles with straberries and whipped cream! Then she went to bed and let us hang out and be silly without ever telling us to keep it down. For not being her actual daughter I never felt that way!

I am lucky to have these 2 women in my life, they are both great woman and I love them both! :)

Launching Bouncing Wall Shop Social

We are super excited about a new venture Bouncing Wall will be launching next Wednesday, April 22nd. Our very awesome Christina (Collins) Pezzner has come up with a fantastic way to take our Bouncing Wall event concept to a whole new level. Get ready for Bouncing Wall Shop Social ~ "traveling" to a venue near you! We think you'll love the new concept of "shop while you drink and mingle, happy hour style!"

So why are we doing this? Many of our friends and supporters have voiced, "I wish Bouncing Wall was closer to where I live." We took that to heart and created an event where we will be coming to a venue near you. First Stop ~ Pioneer Square at The Tashiro Kaplan Building (115 Prefontaine Pl. S. #404), Wednesday, April 22nd from 7pm - 10:30pm.

Each event will feature someone new and someone familiar. This time we'll be featuring two new designers, ZUZK Jewelry and Rachel Burklund Designs. These two designers will be offering great pricing on their new designs or offering a gift with purchase. But that's not all...the attendees will enjoy discounts on items from most of the designers featured in the show. You don't want to miss this!

Alright all...hold onto your seat! Bouncing Wall was blown away and honored that we were contacted by the casting folks of Project Runway! Oh yeah...you read that right. Our little store was on the "radar" of such a big and successful show. I still can't believe it. The reason for this awesome honor was that we have amazing local designers and they found out and asked us for recommendations to invite potential candidates for the next season's show. Ah...what?! How cool is that?

Partnering with Successful Schools in Action

In our search to support a cause that Mother's in our community believe in, we were lucky to be introduced to SSIA, Successful Schools in Action, by one of our own designers, Dinah Coops. Successful Schools in Action is an educational non-profit working with seven public schools, K-12, to provide collaborative and community based programs. Their partner schools in the Queen Anne and Magnolia neighborhoods of Seattle include: Coe, John Hay, and Lawton Elementary, Catharine Blaine K-8, McClure Middle School, The Secondary Bilingual Orientation Center, and the Center School. The four programs that provide the structure of SSIA are Tutoring, Work Experience, Debate and Collaborative Conversations. Bouncing Wall is happy to support and honored to partner with SSIA who provides continued opportunities to gather community, educators and schools through a simple avenue that may not other wise be available. The Collaborative Conversations program is especially of interest to BW as the last Parent to Parent discussion included Arts Integration. We hope that our support will enable more discussion and opportunity in teaching young people to do art.

We will celebrate the accomplishments of our youth and admire their newly created quilt mural, funded in part by a City of Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs Youth Arts Grant. ArtWorks lead artists on the project are Todd Lown and Jay Gordon. Our student intern for the winter session is Johnathan Le.
Additional funding support provided by 4Culture Sustained Support, The Boeing Company, and the Lucky 7 Foundation. Support for court involved youth, including wages and case management, provided by King County Superior Court Community Programs. We are so grateful to all of our funders and partners for their support of our youth.

ArtWorks Closer to Home

ArtWorks newest murals installed in South Lake Union....

....These will be the first three murals in a series designed to beautify construction sites in South Lake Union. Follow on murals will be produced by the youth at Artworks through a continued partnership with Vulcan Real Estate.

The murals have historic themes, hearkening back to the rich history of the South Lake Union area. They will hang along Mercer Street, Terry Avenue and Harrison Street. They were designed by Todd Lown, with design assistance from Tom Dunham.....

Through the month of December, BW is having an ArtDrive! We would love to have as many supplies as possible to help out Urban ArtWorks and we're depending on YOU to help our drive be a success.

Urban ArtWorks is a nonprofit organization that works with at risk and volunteer youth to create public art. In its 14 years of existence ArtWorks' youth have created hundreds of murals throughout King County, learning the lessons of employment, creative expression and community connection. Thanks to The Queen Anne/Magnolia News , BW and ArtWorks has made the connection. Yes! We do read the little press!

When Lindsey Archer was growing up she had a younger brother who until he was old enough to pronouce his Ls called her "Rinzi." Awwww! Love that story and had to share. Christina Collins is not only a great addition to the BW Gang but she's also a talented designer! In October she was one of the featured designers showing in the New Jack City Street Fashion Show & Party at Neumo's. My personal favorite is the high-waist- white grometted skirt. Love the whole look, funky, sophisticated especially well put together with the sleeveless black, oversized buckle belt and super sexy arm gloves. Christina's other piece was such a hit that is sold that night! Sorry, I didn't get better images but take a look anyway. Christina graduated from the New York Academy of Design and currently is creating a line of toddler clothing. Keep your ears and eyes open for more of Christina Collins!

It's time to get your vote heard! People are full of political jibba'-jabba. We all got it, we talk it and we listen to it. In effort make it all mean anything, we all have to act on it. One of our designers has turned to the creative process with her action. We have been selling her onesies, ties and panties in the store for about the last month. It has been interesting hearing what customers have to say. "Chuckle chuckle..." is the most common response. "I don't know if I want Obama on my panties.." is the second most common response. "You don't see McCain on anyone's panties...." is the third and I have to say most funny, response. The most common question is, "will you be getting any adult size tee-shirts in with Obama prints on them?" The answer is no. Sorry!!! Just the onesies, panties and ties. However, the screen printer has agreed to print on anything of your own. So, gather your wears!

Here is how we have it worked out

Drop off and pick up is at BW during regular store hours

Turn around time is one week

Fee is $5 -- a protion of which will go towards the DNC

Last drop off date is Thursday, October 23

Stay tuned in for a possible in-store, day of printing on Saturday, October 25

Hey! Check it out!!! The third edition of the CRAVE book is out and about. It's new, it's different and includes more creative, interesting and local entrepreneurial woman then ever. So, where can you find this "ultimate guide" to so many cool, hip and fascinating chicas? Lots of places in and around Seattle and more conveniently right here at BW. Stop by and pick one up! Check us out in full color on page 28. Did I mention that they make a great gift item for the very special out of town but moving to town girlfriend of yours? I like the new design. It is more like a coffee table book but still an okay size to tote about town with. As you put on your stylish walking shoes and head out the door in discovery of each and every boutique, spa, cupcake shop and masseuse remember to bring along your "Urban Girls Manifesto." It is like having a good friend always by your side. Awww....

Bouncing Wall presents an “Ink on Ink” event during the October Art Walk. We are having two incredibly interesting artists at the store this evening. If there is one reception that you should come to, it's this one!

Our featured artist is, Seth Sexton, who is from Seattle and creates meditative ink drawings using his own breath as the tool. How amazing does that sound?! I personally can't wait to learn more.

Our featured indie clothing designer is Tara Smith of Revival Ink. She is bringing her eco-ink and textiles to her favorite store, yours truly!

I first discovered Revival Ink a few years ago at an Urban Craft Uprising event at Seattle Center. At the time I received a pin with the "Shhhh" print on it, I think it was one of the swag bag items that ended up keeping? Anyway, I pinned it onto my business card holder thingy and it is still there. I see it everyday. Since then, I've come to know Tara more through my work at BW and can I just say "Wow!" This girl is busy and workin' hard! She creates great prints that actually remind me of this time of year...the Autumn leaves falling, spider webbing where the eves meet the side of the house, the whispering wind passing by...it's all just very cool for lack of a better term..but it's true, Revival Ink prints are cool. How can they not be with a tag line that says "Let the Revival Begin." I love that!! I really hope you get a chance to meet this very wonderful designer this month during her trunk show. She Rocks!

New Fall Indie Fashions

Yeah! Fall is the lovely for so many reasons but most of all because of the clothes. Our local designers are brrrriliant! Kim and I used many of their pieces to put together funky, whimsical looks for the Clash Fashion Show last month. They all translate well for fall and winter. Just add a pair of your favorite colored tights or leggings, some chunky heels or boots and you are funkified, comfortable and warm! At the same time remove some of those pieces and go with basic neutrals to make the colorful pieces pop. It's all up to you, your mood and maybe the weather. What ever you decide to do, come into BW and have some fun with us as we put it all together. We love to play dress-up! Enjoy the pics! Happy Fall Fashion to you!!!

Our Party was super fun! Thank you to everyone who came in celebration as well as those who called, e-mailed or sent us b-day cards!!! Yes, we even received b-day cards from our awesome designers and some little favorite friends of ours :) So sweet!! In our cozy store, 10 makes a pretty good party. It was so busy around the 3 o'clock hour that neither Kim or I had enough hands to cut and serve cake. We should have rounded up a few more peeps to help out with that. This lesson will go down in our little book of "what to do next times." Anyhoo, Kerri did an awesome job painting faces for the little people. Also, special thanks to Jen from GreenFire Candles who gave out samples of her massage candles to everyone one who made a purchase. Also, a huge thanks goes out to Jesse and Peter (who are in an awsome local band, Smile Brigade) who showed up to play some live acoutic music outside the store. Thanks again everyone! Drea here! I just have to share my new favorite art and fashion boutique, outside of Bouncing Wall of course. I'm so thrilled about it for many reasons. Let me start with this, Gina's has a very similar vision and goal Bouncing Wall has in our commitment to support independently designed fashion and art. Gina's is located in Cleveland, Ohio! Wow! Anyone who knows anything about Cleveland knows that underneath all of those fading away steel factories, taking many jobs with it, is an incredible art community. Bringing this into the public eye is a challenge for boutique and gallery owner, Gina who is a talented seamstress/designer to boot. Her designer name is Duchess Von Dudik and is located in a few boutiques around Seattle. With that said, we would love to carry her designs but since it is not part of our vision to support local, I decided to blog about this wonderful designer, community supporter and shop owner. She's really doing wonders for the Cleveland Community. Gina's existence is located in Little Italy which is strong in culture, arts and tradition. Being close to the Case Western University Campus helps a bit too. Let me explain that I first came across Gina's while researching one of the designers we are carrying this Fall for the first time. RikaRika, we're honored and so excited to have her! RikaRika is located at Gina's along with another famous independent Seattle Designer, Suzabelle. One can also find Kombat Glamour Puss, Seattle area designer and Erheart Design out of Portland. All can be found right here at Bouncing Wall. I can't wait for the upcoming Thursday when we'll have not only Karl Addison's "Drawings of America" but J. Erin Boyd of Red Boots Design from Bellingham will be gracing us with her fab self to put on a in-store trunk show during the August Art Walk.

If you don't know Red Boots Design's work...you are missing out! We love Erin's bold print of classic banana boat seated bike, her racing road bikes, and deconstructed pedals. But this fall she's also doing some awesome funky print of Rhinos, giraffes, and other fun animals. Come by during the August art walk next Thursday the 21st and check it out for yourself!

"Drawings of America" by Karl Addison

Join us this third Thursday during the monthly Queen Anne Art Walk! Bouncing Wall welcomes native Arizonian turn Seattilite illustrator, Karl Addison. "Drawings of America" are an exciting edition for us. We've been displaying and selling Partybots, an operated and owned eco-friendly screen printing clothing line by Karl Addison for a good time now. Partybots prints men's, women's and toddler t-shirts that
our customers love! They're a great sustainable product that make people brake into genuine smiles and chuckles. Karl's art translates well into his screen printing, which includes all water based dyes. We are so happy to have his illustrations for viewing and sale on our walls this month.

Karl's artist reception starts at 6 p.m. and goes until about 9 p.m.

Little creatures around the store called Minimals.........Elizabeth Shier is a local clay artist who loves to create playful, colorful and very touchable art. Using a variety of swirls and expression she has hand created one-of-a-kind little four legged friends that are hand molded from polymer clay. They have gained a sense of movement and personality, but retain a simplicity that allows their fans plenty of room for imagination. They make awesome gifts for the lucky loved ones in your life.

Blocks of art decorating our walls with images of life at home....Todd Karam is a local artist who recently brought in single object paintings of a toaster, a bike, a wagon and a blender. The layers of vibrant color make them fun to look at. Although the subject matter seems simple each image is brought to life in a whimsical sort of way, with much personality. When I look at them I smile. They are happy inanimate objects with a lot of character.

Round vessels for storing treasures....Sawatou is a local textile artist who loves to felt. Her most recent delivery to us included vibrant round vessels ranging in size from very small to large. Some have tops making them very gourd like, reminding me of the fall (which is my personal favorite season but don't want it to come any time soon) and others have open tops that look like crowns. They are amazing! Designer and artist Sawatou also creates beautiful, wearable scarves and shrugs.

Alright...a little bragging rights for BW! So I was a little sad that we didn't have enough votes this year for the NWSource.com's People's Choice Award until my friend Ariana mentioned that her husband Mike saw BW in the Seattle Magazine, while he was checking out the article on best neighborhoods. What!!?? I love surprises like this! (Side note...we were popping up in 5 different categories in the People Choice voting in NWSource.com - Kids - Gifts - Jewelry - Women's Clothing - Eco. No wonder it was hard for us to secure a spot this year...we are so eclectic that our wonderful fans were putting us in all different categories. To those of you who voted...THANKS so much!!),

Back to the bragging rights... BW was mentioned as one of the reasons why Queen Anne is "vibrant" and "cool" in the July issue of Seattle Magazine's BEST NEIGHBORHOODS. How awesome is that? Our neighborhood shop Urban Kids Play owned by Curtis & Mikki was the other new store mentioned along with us as the new comers, while they gave props to the "longtime favorites" like Queen Anne Books and Hilltop Yarn.

The first time I met Teresa was at BW. She popped in a few weeks ago. Her personal style was what caught my eye and sparked our colorful conversation about fashion and the local industry. We swapped stories about shlopping jewelry, road trips and shows. At the same time we both discovered that she new many of the designers in the store and ta-da! It was like she and Texture found family here in Seattle. Indeed she had, a few weekends later, she came down from Bellingham to show at the Fremont Solstice Fair and make a quick drop off at Bouncing Wall. Since then, her pieces have been doing very well! Customers are especially impressed with the sly pocket inserted in just the right spot in her skirts and urban dress design.

Tina's Product Runway Victory

We're so proud of Tina, local designer of Glamspoon. This past Spring Tina and her hard working team won the Seattle's Product Runway competition! She did a great job documenting the process on her blog, so fun to read! It's a honor to have her designs in the store. Customers continually come back to check out her latest flattering, flirty one of a kind skirts and dresses. Silky satin textures with layers of color contribute to the "bohemian chic" style that she delivers so well. Congrats to you Tina!!!

I've discovered that Tina recently took a wardrobe refashioning pledge. The more I read the more I fell in love with the whole concept. It really does prove that our consumer power is real, alive and practical. She promised to post a photo of her refashioned, renovated, recycled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, "so that others may share the joy that thy thriftiness brings!"

Out of Line...The Event Night

There is so much to tell!!! Where, oh where to begin? The set-up,I have to admit, was skeptical at first. You have visited Bouncing Wall before, right? Imagine, a live dj, three live window models, two additional racks of clothing…additional to the already 5.5 racks living in the shop, counter upon counter of ceramics, blown glass, jewelry, etc, a hearty sized table of yummy appetizers and a room full of family, friends and loyal, supportive customers. The store was about to bust out of it’s seems but all the love in the room held it together nicely….the wine helped a bit too ;) Of course we were sure to leave room for the wine pouring and sipping!
Before the event started we managed to fit Michelle, Amanda and Holly, the very talented hair stylists and make-up artist who work at Intermezzo Salon & Spa in Queen Anne (now on top of
the hill), into our hallway where they gracefully transformed it into a cozy styling space. Our three models, Ashley, Pricilla and Mary looked stunning! As they worked the windows that evening striking pose by pose and caught the eye of many passer bys. Some could not, help but come inside to ease their curiosity, second guessing if they we're real or not. It was important to us to have the models and the Intermezzo stylist be part of this event. It just goes to show how fortunate we Seatilites are to live and work in communities that come together. Right on Seattle!
Adding to the vibe, in a huge way, was DJ Woogie. DJ Woogie put it all out there just like you know he would, with a little shakin,’ a bit of soul and a whole lot of boogie! A good to know spot for those who like to groove, and you know who you are, is Sea Monster Lounge every Saturday night for Purple Haze Night. Check DJ Woogie out!

You should know that this was Bouncing Walls first event showcasing a fashion designer. We are so thrilled that it was Beki Wilson’s, Out of Line, Summer line that was featured! We love what she does. Her designs are perfect for many body types and occasions. They emphasize simple, well-structured lines contouring a woman’s body, a variety of solid colors with just enough frills to have fun, and a good variety of casual and formal wear. The signature folding (for lack of a better design term) of her fabrics which incorporate free hand machine stitching, gives it a look that nobody else is doing... making her style uniquely subtle, which I personally love! Having Beki’s family and friends present was one of the best parts of the whole night. It was so awesome and rewarding to have the event be somewhat of a family affair. This aspect totally contributes to the celebration of community and it's talents.

One show at a time BW will bring our community together through local independent art, design and creativity by providing a venue to show, display, purchase and most important for all to enjoy. Oh, hey! That sounds like a mission statement! Many thanks to Kim for the vision and esteem to make it all happen!

What better thought to blog about but SUNSHINE! Queen Anne Ave was all about the community vibe this weekend. Kids on roller shoes that light up, wagons, furry friends walking their human masters up and down the sidewalks...shoping bags, iced coffee sippers, seating outside with sunglasses on the side please. Ahhhhh....sunshine.

Upper QA Art Walk Kick-off Event

To kick off Queen Anne's Third Thursday Summer Art Walk we had a night especially for the kids. Throughout the month of May Bouncing Wall has had the pleasure of displaying the very talented artist works who are third graders from John Hay Elementary. Many thanks to them and the teachers who helped encouraged these students to do art and organize this wonderful community event. Below are a two student artists and their creations.

Shayla, known as Shay D Design, creates such an amazing variety of jewelry! We are proud to have her at Bouncing Wall. For as many different woman that are out there, in our huge wide world, there are as many different looks and Shayla represents well. Earrings, necklaces, rings and lariats. She seems to love working with all metals and creates imaginative designs using everything from pearls to clay and yes, everything in-between.

I have to say that the weather was against us during the April Art and Accessories event. It was the weekend that snowed pretty much everywhere outside of Seattle and even within the Seattle city limits on and off.

Even with the crazy weather, we had a great time at with Keri and Sydney. And can we say how cool Sydney's friends are? The K D'Angelo jewelry looked fabulous on all of them! Check out the beautiful display by Keri and Sydney chatting it up with a co-worker who is interested in requesting a large commissioned piece.

Megan Leone and ReVamped at Girl Power Hour

Bouncing Wall recently partnered with Girl Power Hour to show Seattle women that they can go green and be eco-chic! We could not have done this with out our own local designer Megan Leone! As each model walked the "green walk" each hand clutch was displayed beautifully! Re-purposed, local, functionable, stylish and sustainable!

The show also featured talented designer, ReVamped; bags that are handmade in Bellingham, Washington and are lined with vintage fabrics found at local thrift and antique stores making each item a true one of a kind.

She brought in some pretty blooms for our flower boxes to give it some new spring colors. Look how bright and friendly it looks. Next project...clean the outside of the boxes. I'm officially looking for someone new to join our wacky and creative crew at Bouncing Wall. Unlike most retail business, I'm looking for someone who is an appreciator of the local DIY movement and not looking for a dream job in retail but way to support their first love.

Why are am I hiring and why am I not looking for someone that says “Yes..I LOVE retail and it’s my life!”? We support people who are dreamers and two of our current crew are moving onto full time positions in their fields (congrats!), so we have new openings available. What am I looking for? Here is the pitch if you're interested.

Hopefully you fit most, if not all, of the below requirements.
Great customer service (Our #1 priority!)
Available 10 – 25 hours (Flexibility to work weekends a must!)
Reliable and responsible to handle multiple store functions
Computer knowledge (If you have some html writing, blogging, Myspace, Facebook, etc knowledge…excellent!)
Creative eye for merchandising
Some retail experience (If no retail experience, we’ll train you if you’re the right fit)
Takes directions well but also demonstrate independent thought to show good judgment in all situations.
And most of all...deal with the me! A bit of crazy now that I'm trying to balance new baby and the store.

February Re-Model

I've been wanting to do a re-model in the store since last year to prepare for Sawyer's arrival but like everything else in my life right now, everything takes much longer to accomplish. So the plans of having the red wall knocked down by last October was finally completed this February. Four months late but better than never.

It's amazing how much space it creates and it will be perfect for Sawyer's play area. I don't have any completed pics yet but take a look at the construction.

Well...once again...I'm playing catch-up on the month's news. A lot has been going on here at the store this month

August Honors
Bouncing Wall was selected by Seattle Magazine as one of the Best New Gift Boutiques for 2007! What a great honor without being even 1 year old yet! Our infant stages are going really well!

August 5 - Inertia Music and Arts Festival: (www.myspace.com/inertiaseattle)
Our own Jenn Meyers was awesome at putting a phenomenal event together. The fashion show was a awesome as well. The models looks fabulous and the music was hopping. For those of you who were able to make it, you know how much fun that was!

August 16 - Art Walk w/ Rachel Dory and Divine Design (Side note for tooth)

O.k..so there aren't any photos of the art walk for August. This time, it wasn't because I was being an idiot as usual and forgot to take any pictures...rather it was due to the fact that I had one of the most excruciating and painful event that has happened in my current life that week. Thus...I actually wasn't there at the event so Jenn had to deal with the flood of customers, art patrons and trunk show viewer that night by herself. I believe we had hundreds of people that stopped in that night and Rachel's show looks great! She sold 3 pieces prior to the opening and sold an awesome piece during the night of the show. Also, Miss Lauren also had a fantastic start of her 2 day event.

So the side note: For those of you who didn't know...I had a molar that went bad and had a partial root cannal then had to have the whole tooth extracted. However before all of this was done...I had a week where every other day I went to see a different dental specialists and they did the whole "let's see how the it goes by tomorrow" scenarios before something happened at the end of the week. Yes yes...please do feel sorry for me. Because if you forgotten, I'm pregnant so they couldn't drug me up so I spent many nights crying in pain. Poor Tony had to watch me deal with this all week and drive me back and forth to all these dental appointments. He said that it was one of the hardest thing he had to watch me go through and what he came to decided was that I have to take the epidural during the delivery if he says I have to take it cuz he can't deal with me in that much pain.

August 18 - Divine Design Fall Jewelry Trunk Show
Yes...I did take pictures at this event! Miss Lauren G's jewelry looked beautiful and the trunk show sold many of her fall line of jewelry.

In addition...something new that's occurred. IZZE Soda is donating their wonderful fizzy sodas for our events. They are a really great partner to have with our events and our customers love them as well.

Also... because of all that tooth issue, Tony was great in being our sales cashier during the event. Whenever Tony's in the store working, or just hanging out, we definitely get more male customers.

Inertia '07 - Music and Arts Festival

Bouncing Wall is going to have it's first ever fashion show at Inertia '07 Music and Arts Festival! I'm super excited about this event and a little nervous. I've never done a fashion show before but getting a lot of tips from people.

So what is Inertia? Inertia is a music and arts festival started as a small DIY event by our very own Jenn Meyres, gathering up local musicians and artists to create an environment to support one another in a “fundraiser” for performing artists. The momentum of this event has grown from the first 2 years on “backyard” stages, and now it’s in its 2nd year at Nectar Lounge in Fremont.

This is Bouncing Wall’s first Fashion Show event and we will be featuring summer and new fall designs by Layers Squared, TOGS Design, Carmacazzi, T-Spoon and more.

I hope you'll be able to come out support and enjoy the show!

Personal Updates

Boy...this month is just flying by! I'm sorry about the sporadic updates to the blog and if I do update it, I'm sorry for the lack of info.

Week 1:

It's been a crazy month starting with Linda and Jeff's visit (Linda's been a friend of mine for 14 years!). It was great seeing them since they live in Singapore and she is also preggers and only a week behind. It was great to waddle around with her and talk non-stop pregnancy talk. Non-preggers people kind of max out when you talk about babies but those of us who are pregnant can't seem to stop! When I have access to my camera...I'll update some pictures.

Week 2:

Next...getting on a plane to fly to Iowa for my big brother Mike's wedding. Going home is always a bit stressful for me and knowing that so many people from GC and extended family would be there didn't help to calm my nerves. Also...can plane rides when you're 6 months pregnant be any more uncomfortable? It was beautiful wedding though and my favorite part was when Mike and Tina had Will and Emma join them at the alter to combine color sand to symbolize the joining of the families. It was also great to see mom and dad.

Week 3:

So you would think that would be it....however one more flight to Vermont for Kate and Jay's wedding. However, an art walk was squeezed in between and I left right after the art walk to catch the plane and almost didn't make it.

The wedding however was beautiful and so very them. The luggage was lost but arrived just before the wedding. Thank goodness since I was carrying Tony's, Marty's and Bob's wedding suites as well. The boys been traveling around the US on their motorcycles and have been meeting me at each of the spots. I love that since they are traveling for 3 weeks. With serious nesting going on...it's good to be able to see Tony each weekend.

Week 4:

I'm just trying to play catch up now. Jenn and I have a lot going on between Inertia, the Tractor Tavern Show, BW's 1 year Anniversary Bash, Fashion Show, The Seattle Sound Magazine Fashion Layout and the next art walk and trunk show.

Let's just call it what it is...CRAZY! I'll update all of you on what's going on with the partnership on the next round of updates. If you didn't know yet...Jenn will become my new partner soon!

My niece Emma is following her aunt and is becoming a budding artist. She has won a "Published Artist Award" in her 5th grad class as for a great sculptural piece she made.

Congratulations, Emma! I'm so proud of you.

I can't wait to see her and the rest of the family in the upcoming weeks when my brother gets married.

Art Walk Success

Once again...I forgot to take pictures of last nights event! I'm such an idot sometimes. However, big thanks goes out to Megan and Cynthia for being part of the first Upper Queen Anne Art Walk! For being the first one, it was fantastic. I know many of our customers came out to see what it was all about and to support the local businesses. The weather was extremly agreeable which made the walk much more enjoyable for all.

We had steady viewers coming in all throughout the night until about 8:30pm. I think that was partly to do with many of the stores closed up at 8pm, although some of us were open until 9pm. In addition to the initial sales we had on the paintings before the show went up we sold 4 more.

We had such a great write up in Seattle Picks this week! I knew they were writing about the Queen Anne Art Walk this week but I had no idea that they were writing about the store as well! On a Personal Note

Tony and I haven't really been good about taking preggers pictures so were lacking in that area. However, here is one from a couple of weeks ago. Which, if any of you have gone through a pregnancy or known someone who has, will know that this picture is already outdated and my stomach is bigger.

But the main reason for the personal note is for our family and friends who are far away and I wanted to share with you a quick story. As you know we have named the little Tummy Squirrel as Buster. Buster has been pretty active in the past few weeks and his movements are getting pretty strong. (PS...don't mind the male reference...we don't know if it's a him or a her)

Although I've been feeling Buster move around for a while, last night Tony got to feel him for the first time. He left his hand on my belly and fell asleep while Buster was showing off for dad . It was so extremely sweet that my heart ached. I know this is pretty personal on this blog but wanted to share this with you all.

My friend, Alison got a great new opportunity to be one of the contributing writers at 2 Modern design blog. She is a blogging queen and I always love seeing what she's writing about. Drum Roll Please....the "Simply the Best Mom!" Goes to....

Hello all. I apologize for the late unveiling of the winner for the "Simply the Best Mom!" We had some last minute submissions on Mother's Day and we wanted to be able to get through all of them. I also apologize that not all of the submission made it to the blog. Because of the many submissions, we selected some random samples and some we thought should be shared.

So without further ado...the "Simply the Best Mom!" gift package goes to....Bridget K.'s mom. To read her submission click here. Although we believe all the submissions really exemplified why the mom's in their lives were the best moms but we picked Bridget's mom because we felt after the various trails in her life, she deserved a day or a night off to get pampered and enjoy the benefits of the award.
